Alan Lomax heard tale of a blues guitarist when he was snooping around the area and thought “Ah, I heard it all before. Another blues guitarist. Probably a wasted night”. But… he arrived at Fred McDowell’s house with recording device in tow and documented the first recordings of something truly special. Lomax agreed.
